You may be wondering “when is the BEST time to visit?” Zion’s beauty can be enjoyed year-round with each month bringing its own unique experience for hikers. The following charts should help you better understand what to expect during your visit. Keep in mind that conditions can vary from year to year. These numbers reflect the averages and may be different during your visit! For your safety, always check the current conditions and weather forecast before heading out on an adventure!

November

Average Temperature: 56/31F

Water Temperature: 45-50F

Park Visitation: Medium

Narrows Equipment: Dry Pants Package

Narrows Conditions:  Cooling temperatures and changing leaves make Fall a beautiful time to enjoy Zion.  Threats of summer flash floods decrease in the Fall and water levels remain relatively low.

December

Average Temperature: 48/23F

Water Temperature: 40-45F

Narrows Conditions: Winter is a great time to find solitude in the Narrows.  Keep in mind that trails can become icy with possible closures of the Riverside Walk.  Hiking away from the canyon walls is recommended due to falling ice.

Narrows Conditions:  June is a popular time to hike the Narrows.  Conditions for the hike are generally ideal with warm temperatures and lower flood potential than late summer months.
